Wendell Parker Matthews

Wendell Parker Matthews, 68, passed away on January 22, 2022 in Stanley, New Mexico. He was born on March 11, 1954 in Urbana, Illinois to the late William and Charlotte (Barlow) Matthews. He was a longtime resident of New Mexico, loved motorcycles and had a passion for playing the drums. Wendell owned and operated Visions of Wood in Albuquerque, New Mexico for 37 years. He was best known for his favorite roles of husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a good, kindhearted man who loved his family more than anything else. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is also preceded in death by his nephew, Matthew Babecka. Wendell is survived by his wife, Mandy Matthews; son, Matthew Champlin and wife Lisa Ann; daughters, Jamie Matthews, Krissy Matthews and Mollie Matthews; sisters, Karen Hill and Candy Matthews as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Wendell was blessed with 5 beautiful grandchildren, Neesa Anaya, Amari Anaya, Daelyn Drew Champlin, Matthew Kaes Champlin and Grace Ava Champlin and 2 beautiful great grandchildren, Azarius and Azra. Per the families wishes no services are scheduled at this time.
