Virginia S. Mora

Virginia S. Mora, 92, peacefully passed away on January 16th, 2020 with her loved ones by her side. She was born in Duran, New Mexico on April 10th, 1927 to the late Isidoro Saiz and Luisita Madril Saiz. Virginia was a devout Catholic and a member of our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Moriarty.  She was preceded in death by her husband Dario Mora, grandson Jonathan Andrew Garcia, son's in law Eduardo Ochoa and Jeffrey Lake. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Jose Abel Saiz and Isidoro Saiz, Jr., sisters Carmen Saiz, Nora Jaramillo, Rosie Gordon and Christina Apodaca.Virginia will be deeply missed by her family relatives and friends.  She is survived by her loving sister, Josie (Saiz) Lucero, her 11 sons and daughters; Louie and Helen Mora, Mary Alice Garcia, Raquel Ochoa, John and Annabell Mora, David and Josephine Mora, Larry and Billie Mora, Josephine and Richard Mondragon, Marcella Garcia, Marian Mora, Isidoro and Gina Mora, and Margaret Lake.  Virginia was blessed with 31 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 7 great, great- grandchildren.  Virginia was raised on a ranch near Duran, New Mexico. She married Dario Mora upon his return from serving in the Navy during World War II. She was a devoted wife and mother, traveling with their family wherever Dario was stationed with the Santa Fe Railroad. They lived in Duran, then later settled in Encino before Dario's untimely death in 1974. In 1983, she moved her family to Moriarty, NM. She worked as a much-loved cook in the Encino and Moriarty-Edgewood Schools. Following retirement, she enjoyed caring for children, sewing, crocheting, reading and doing crossword and word find puzzles. She faithfully watched the EWTN channel, watching the Daily Mass and praying the Rosary several times a day. Virginia loved her faith and remained a devout Catholic, devoted to her Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society of Duran, NM, where she held the honor of being the oldest living member. She was also committed to her service in several Ministries at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Encino, NM. A rosary will be recited on Friday, January 31st at 6:30 p.m. at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty.  The Celebration of Mass will be Saturday, February 1st at 10:00 a.m., also to be held in Moriarty. Fr. Lancaster to officiate. Interment will follow at the Encino Catholic Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her deceased husband, Dario. Pallbearers will be Paul Louis Mora, Christopher Garcia, Enrique Ochoa, Johnny Francisco Mora, Matthew Mora, L. Cutter Mora, Judith Mondragon, Stephanie Garcia, Anthony Mora, Michael Mora and Zackary Lake. “Vayan con Dios”
