Thomas C. Plant Jr.77; a lifelong resident of Moriarty, NM, passed away peacefully January 23, 2022 in Rio Rancho, NM. He was a loving, caring, friendly and helpful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Vera; sons, George and wife Carey of Rio Rancho, NM and Corey and wife Iris of Moriarty, NM; grandchildren Brianna, Sydney, Zach, Rian and Jaxsen; sister Veva Bigham of Galloway, Ohio; sisters-in-law Roxanne Plant, Juanita Plant, Patty Plant, Isabel Plant, Kari Rogers-Miller, Nora Alexander, Jane Apodaca, Helen Apodaca, Rosalie (John) Astorga, Dorothy (Robert) Tanuz and Connie Apodaca; brothers- in-law Albert (Frances) Apodaca , Larry (Vicky) Apodaca, Michael (Starla) Apodaca and Fred (Linda) Apodaca; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents T.C. Plant. Sr. and Pauline (Loyd) Plant; parents-in-law Manuel and Lala Apodaca; brothers Tommy Plant, Marvin Plant, Jack Plant, Robert “Bob” Plant, Everett Rogers, and Johnny Plant; sisters Wilma Rogers, Christine Rogers, Leona Kellogg; brothers-in- law Alfonso Apodaca and Richard Alexander; sister-in-law Mercedes Plant -Zarate; nephew David “Bo” Plant; niece Ramona Plant-Jimenez and several loved friends. Drag racing was his life, he was the driver of many cars including Vera’s Headache, and Tuff Enough. He would race at Albuquerque Drag Way and at many out of state tracks where he was known affectionally as Pops. His love of the sport inspired his sons and grandchildren to race, and help Pops or Pop Pops change tires, fuel cars, and complete automotive work. He did metal work, making his wife several precious yard and house ornaments that will be cherished. Jr., JR, Chuck or Plant as he was adorningly known by was a man that was always willing to help when he could. A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery, 1343 Martinez Road, Moriarty, NM.
