Steven Kyle Oden

Steven Kyle Oden, age 35 of Edgewood, NM passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 21st, 2018 in Albuquerque, NM.  Kyle, as he was known to friends and family, was born on May 20th, 1982 to Tim and Myra Oden of Edgewood, NM.  Kyle graduated from Moriarty High School in 2000.  Upon graduation, Kyle attended Full Sail University in Winterpark, FL and received his Associates Degree of Science in the Recording Arts.  Kyle pursued his passion for sound, music, live theater and film with a robust career as a full-time audio engineer.  Kyle held the position of Head of Sound at Spencer Theater in Ruidoso, NM and worked touring the United States on Broadway shows including Gentleman Prefer Blondes and Jesus Christ Superstar.  While living in Seattle, WA, Kyle worked with Teatro Zinzani and as a corporate audio-visual technician.  Kyle recently relocated back to Edgewood, NM and worked as a Realtor in his Mother’s real estate firm at the time of his death. Kyle enjoyed many hobbies including cycling and snowboarding.  He had a profound connection to the ocean and was an avid sailor and surfer.  He sailed his boat the “Dream Catcher” around the waters of Puget Sound and had many wonderful adventures.  He found joy surfing his favorite breaks at Hobuck Beach and La Push and exploring Neah Bay in Washington State. He was uniquely brilliant with deep expressive intent.  He was an adventurist, philosopher and naturist.  Kyle was preceded in death by paternal grandmother Joanna Oden; maternal grandfather Herbert Day and beloved Uncle Jerry Don Oden.  Kyle is survived by his loving parents Tim & Myra Oden; sister Kendra Koder and husband Alan of Concord, MA; triplet nephews Evan, Owen & Aiden; paternal grandfather Duke Oden of Pensacola, FL; maternal grandmother Gladys Day of Midland, TX; aunt Brenda Fraser of Pensacola, FL; aunt Dian Gerber and family of Canyon, TX; aunt Tena Waggoner and family of Midland, TX; cousins Jerry Don “Bubba” Oden, Jr and family of Mobile, AL; Toni Shanks and family of Canyon, TX; Danielle Gerber of Canyon, TX; Jeff Gerber of Amarillo, TX; Kayla Everett and family of Midland, TX; Megan Pasco and family of Midland, TX; Tara Webb of Portland, OR; Warrant Officer R.J. Webb and family of the US Army; Brent Dickson and family of Orlando, FL.  Kyle is also survived by the love of his life, Ruth Nesbitt and family of Seattle, WA.  A Celebration of Life will be held at Harris-Hanlon Chapel located at 807 Central in Moriarty, NM on Tuesday, February 27th at 2pm.
