Steve Darrell Stevens

Steve Darrell Stevens, it is with great sadness that the family of Steve Darrell Stevens announces his passing after a brief illness on Friday March 19, 2021 at the age of 75 years. Steve was a resident of Albuquerque, NM when he joined the Army in 1965 and after he was Honorably Discharged in 1979. Steve served 2 ½ tours of duty in Vietnam and served several years in Stuttgart Germany. He received numerous decorations and medals including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Silver Star and the Bronze Star Medal. Steve is survived by his sister, Jean Emmons and brother-in-law Dave Emmons of Grand Junction, CO. He is also survived by his niece, René Holtam and husband Rob and their children, Ryan, Tyler, Tanner, of Erie, CO, and Robbie of Denver, CO; his aunt Yoko Downey; cousins Shirley Stout and her husband Barry; Patrick Downey and Derek Stout. He was preceded in death by his father Harry Stevens in 1957 and his mother Sybil Stevens in 2011. He was born in Oakland, CA on February 4, 1946. Steve had numerous friends with whom he watched many football games while rooting for his beloved Dallas Cowboys. He always appreciated anything that anyone did for him. A graveside funeral service will be held Friday March 26, 2021 @ 11:30 am at the Mountainair Cemetery in Mountainair, NM with Raymond Mondragon officiating. Pallbearers will be Dave Emmons, Rob Holtam, Ryan Holtam, Patrick Downey, Barry Stout, and Derek Stout. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary. 505-832-6130.
