Steve Gallegos JR.

Steve Gallegos Jr, born on March 13, 1972, passed away on December 23, 2024, in Moriarty, New Mexico. A man of immense love, humor, and dedication, Steve left behind a legacy of cherished memories, unwavering care, and laughter that will echo forever in the hearts of those who knew him.

Steve was the beloved son of Steve Sr. and Annabell Gallegos, and although he was the oldest, it was no secret that he was the baby of the family. Whether it was his mom’s gentle care or his knack for getting everyone to dote on him, he embraced the title with pride. His family teased him endlessly about it, but everyone knew it was a testament to the love and bond they shared.

He was a proud and devoted father to his two children, Xia and Xailan, who were the light of his life. Steve shared a special connection with his brother, Robert, partner on the open road where they made countless memories driving their semis, sometimes side by side.

Steve’s passions were deeply rooted in family, the outdoors, and, of course, women. He loved hunting and cherished every trip to the Tapia family ranch, where he spent countless hours surrounded by his vast family of cousins, aunts, and uncles. Known for his unmatched sense of humor, Steve delighted in lovingly teasing his brother, Robert; sisters, Maria (James) & Victoria (John); nieces Breanna (Mike), Alina (Mike), Ashly, and Naya; nephews Amare (Alana), Josh, Anthony, and Lucas. His jokes were a language of love, each playful jab showing just how much he cared.

As a semi-truck driver, Steve lived a life straight out of a country song. The open road was his home, and each mile was a testament to his grit, freedom, and love of adventure. Yet no matter how far he traveled, his heart always belonged to his family. Steve was a man of great banter and an even greater heart. People will always remember his quick wit, warm nature, and the way he made everyone feel special. His laughter and kindness were the ties that bound his family and friends together.

Steve’s memory will live on in every road traveled, every story told at the ranch, and every laugh shared among those who loved him. Rest easy, Stevie. You’ve reached the ultimate destination.

Steve’s celebration of life will be held Friday, January 17, 2025, beginning with a Rosary at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Church in Moriarty, NM, followed by the funeral mass. After the mass, a meal will be shared at the Moriarty Civic Center. A procession to the burial at the family ranch in Tapia, NM, will follow.
