Sean Terrence Jones April 5, 1969 – September 24, 2023 With great sadness in our hearts, the family of Sean Terrence Jones regrets to announce that he passed away on September 24, 2023 at the age of 54. Our husband, bonus father, godfather, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend passed away peacefully at his home in Edgewood, NM. He was a very caring, loving and supportive husband who will be greatly missed. Trinity, the family dog was his treasured companion and held a special place in his heart. Sean was born on April 5, 1969 in Greenwich, CT to Paul and Mary Jones. He was raised in CT but spent most his summers with his grandparents, uncle and family in Scotland. Sean served our country and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was very proud to be a veteran. Upon release from the Army, Sean made Edgewood, NM his home. He worked with his father as a driver who had a moving company and traveled across the United States in his semi truck. Upon his father’s death he began working at the Albuquerque Journal for 20+ years. Sean was a very knowledgable, devout Catholic and proudly served the church community. He was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus #10835, Tomas Tenorio Council. He was also a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus #3282, Holy Family Assembly. Sean and his wife took pride in hosting the annual Mary Jones’s St. Patrick’s Day Corned Beef & Cabbage Meal fundraiser for the Knights of Columbus yearly in Moriarty, NM Sean was a huge fan of his NY Giants, NY Yankees, NY Knicks and the Celtic Soccer team from Scotland. He loved his football Sundays with his wife and hosted get togethers with family and friends on occasion. He was also the biggest animal lover and did his best to help any animal in need. Sean was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Glen and Ella Daly from Glasgow, Scotland UK; his father, Paul Jones from CT; his mother, Mary Jones who was originally from Scotland; and most recently his father in law, Fred Mares; his mother in law, Virginia Mares, who he helped take care of for the previous 4+years; sister in law, Yolanda Archuleta; and Uncle, Jacobo Lucero. He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette Mares-Jones; his most precious fur baby, Trinity; special Uncle, Terrence Dick; special cousin, Kevin Daly; bonus sons, Eugene Gurule, Reed Milewicz, and Markell Scott; godson, Rico Valdez, Jr.; sister in law, Diane Wolfzahn and her husband Ralph (sons: Joseph, Benji, Billy and Josh); and his brother in law, Phillip Mares. Sean is also survived by numerous relatives from Scotland and numerous relatives and friends from NM. .
