Rosil Garcia Alvarado

December 26, 1938 — July 30, 2024

McIntosh

Rosil Garcia Alvarado, 85, a longtime resident of McIntosh, NM passed away peacefully on July 30, 2024 at his home in McIntosh, NM with his loving family beside him. Rosil was born on December 26, 1938 in Artesia, NM to Manuel and Rosa (Garcia) Alvarado. Rosil met his wife, Juanita Noriega in the second grade and went on to marry her in Carlsbad, NM on April 19, 1959. He joined the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged on June 1, 1962. Rosil was a proud Veteran and American through and through. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, NM where he belonged to the Knights of Columbus. Rosil retired from The Army Corp of Engineers as a Civil Engineer in 1990. He worked for the city of Moriarty after retiring from The Corp.

Rosil will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband. He was an unmatched father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends; singing, dancing and making sure everyone was comfortable. Rosil adored children and would just light up at the sight of them. He was always ready with a silly face or gesture to make them laugh. To know him was to love him and if you don’t have his blood running through your veins then you could hope to one day aspire to have his heart; his character. Hard work, faith, dedication, integrity and always willing to lend a helping hand, cemented the foundation on which he operated daily. Rosil was the kind of man that stood out in a crowd for all the right reasons and will be missed beyond measure. No combination of words could begin to sum up the depths to which he is loved nor what his life brought to the world. He was simply the best!

Rosil is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel & Rosa Alvarado; one grandson, Corporal Rodney Manuel Alvarado; two brothers Osvaldo Alvarado and Frank “Pancho” Alvarado.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Juanita Alvarado, of McIntosh, NM; three sons, Arthur Felipe “Ray” Alvarado of McIntosh, NM; Mark Vincent Alvarado and his wife Nora of McIntosh, NM; Rodney Manuel Alvarado and his wife Selina “Tiny” of Albuquerque, NM; one daughter, Kimberly Faye Alvarado Pavia and her husband Dominic of Chester Springs, PA; one brother Albert “Beto” Alvarado and his wife Yolanda; two sisters, Esmera Marquez and her husband Fred and Arcilia Dominguez and her husband Manuel; fifteen adoring grandchildren and 24 very blessed, great grandchildren.

A Rosary will be recited Wednesday August 7, 2024 at 10:00 am. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Both gatherings will be held at Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty; 215 Girard Avenue, Moriarty NM; with Father Lancaster officiating.
