Roger Keith Hattersley

November 20, 1945 — May 5, 2020

MSG Retired Roger Keith Hattersley Roger died at home on May 5, 2020. His wife, Jill and beloved dog Hobbs were with him. Roger was born on November 20, 1945 in Alice and John Hattersley in Aurora, IL. Roger Served in Vietnam with the 1st Cavalry Division where he received the Distinguished Service Cross and Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster. He had a break in service and became a Union Electrician with Local 611 IBEW. He returned to the Army in March 1981 and married Jill August 8, 1981. He became an Army Recruiter and served successfully in Hobbs, NM and Albuquerque, NM until 1990 where he and Jill returned to Ft. Bragg, NC. He served in Desert Storm in 1990 for 8.5 months and chased Saddam out of Kuwait and was not allowed to finish the job to MSG Hattersley chagrin. He served his country for 24 years and loved every minute of it. Jill always knew she came second to Rogers love to his Country. She didn’t mind too much! He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Dale and most recently Gary Hattersley. He leaves his beloved with of 38 years Jill, devoted dog Hobbs, daughter Chez Mohler and husband Bob, granddaughters Maggie and Ellie Mohler also his brother Bob Hattersley. and sister Sharon Dudley and sister-in-law Judie Hattersley. many nieces and Bobs son John. Many friends, former 82nd and Delta buddies and colleagues. Also his “Family from the 1st Cav.” Too many to list. Also his wife would like to give special heartfelt thank you’s to John and Dale. Rosanne, Janice, CJ and his crew from Klarus Home Health Care. Nurse Deandra and CNA Ezmerelda. They all had Jill’s back and gave much love and support. Thank you’s are not enough. A Memorial Service will happen at a later date per the families wishes.
