Robert "Bob" Mancell Whelchel Jr.

Robert “Bob” Mancell Whelchel Jr., 60, passed away on May 30, 2019 in Edgewood, New Mexico. He was born on May 15, 1959 in Albuquerque, NM to the late Robert and Dorothy (Hatley) Whelchel Sr. Bob was a lifetime resident of NM. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, a lifetime member of the NRA, the NMSSA, the History Channel and the North American Hunting Club.  He served in the Army from 1977 until 1994 and was a member of the Third Infantry Division. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Dayton Guin Orcutt and sister, Lori Louise Hatley. Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Karma Lynne Knudsen; sons, James Howard Whelchel and wife Amy and Jason Loren Allen; daughters, Guenevere Lee Williams and husband Kevin, Amanda Lynne Whelchel, and Danielle Lynne Whelchel; brothers Bill Lewis Whelchel and wife Kim, Daniel Lewis Whelchel and wife Crystal, and sister, Shirley Louise Whelchel. Bob was blessed with 2 grandchildren, Liam Cade VanDerAaKeeffe and Ronan Bennett Whelchel. A Funeral Service is scheduled for Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Edgewood, NM. Viewing will precede the funeral at 9:00 A.M.  Pallbearers will be James Whelchel, Steve Knudsen, Bill Whelchel, Mike Troup, Scott Andrus, and Daniel Whelchel. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronan Whelchel, Liam VanDerAakeeffe, Tony Knudsen, Edward Martinez, and Ralph Keeton. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico at 1:30 P.M.  Dedication of the grave will be by Tony Knudsen.
