Rita Amelia Irene Flowers, 91, passed away on August 13, 2019 in Mountainair, New Mexico. She was born on March 3, 1928 in Amarillo, Texas to the late William and Mary (Hussman) Neusch. Rita has lived in Mountainair, NM for the last 6 years and was a member of the Gran Quivira Church. She was also a member of the Mountainair Senior Citizens Club where she learned to play shuffleboard and became very competitive even at the state level. She loved attending their lunches with her many friends. Rita worked many years as a waitress and enjoyed visiting with all of her customers. Her longest stint was at Price’s Truck Stop in Roswell where she worked for twenty-six years. She enjoyed baking and made delicious home-made cream pies and sugar-free cookies to take to church every Sunday. It made her day when people asked to take her cookies home with them. Shopping was one of Rita’s favorite pastimes and she made many friends at the different thrift stores. Her favorite was the St. Vincent De Paul’s in Mountainair. Rita is survived by her sons, Darrell Roberts and wife Denise of Mountainair, NM, Larry Roberts of Logan, NM, and Warren Roberts and wife Becky and daughter, Cheryl Berryhill of Alaska. Rita was blessed with 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Services are scheduled for Saturday, August 24, at 2:00 p.m. at Gran Quivira Church with her son Darrell officiating. A meal will be served at noon before the service.
