Richard Medina August 15, 1939- February 19,2023 Richard Medina, beloved family patriarch, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday February 19,2023 at the age of 83. Richard was preceded in death by his father Angel Medina, mother Senaida Sisneros Medina, brother Pete Medina and beloved grandson Ryan Ramirez. Richard was born in Abó, New Mexico on August 15,1939. He attended Mountainair High School where he was an all-star athlete and graduated in 1959. In December of 1960 Richard married his high school sweetheart Rosalia Miranda. They were married for 62 years and together they have five children. Richard was a fearless leader and pillar of his community. He knew no strangers. He made friends wherever he went. He was a member of St. Alice Catholic Church in Mountainair and served in several ministries, including the Knights of Columbus, St.Vincent de Paul Society and a Lector in the church. His love and devotion to his family and ranch were second to none. He loved all sports and coached his children's teams in little league. He was a loyal and devoted Oakland Raiders fan. Wherever Richard was in life his dream was always to return to the ranch in Abó. His children lovingly refer to him as their “Abó Warrior”. Richard is survived by his loving and devoted wife Rosalia. His five children: Anna (Earnest) Florie, Steven, Rebecca, Ramona and Paul (Lisa). His grandchildren: Richard Florie, Marcus and Angel Florie, Anissa Florie and Lorenzo (Lencho) Florie, Regina Zamora (Ignacio Large), Renee Zamora, Elena Volpert, Gabriella Maes (Solomon Austin) , Celestina Medina and Johnathon Martinez, Julianna Medina, Carlos Medina and Christina Chavez. Greatgrandchildren: Jenna Padilla, Anthony Perea, Leo Perea, Viviana Baca, Laila Florie, Nia Florie, Ignacio Large Jr., Zayden Large, King Maes, Legend Austin, Elisha Roby, Aria Martinez and Shiloh Florie. His sisters Teles,(Augustine) Garcia, Henrietta,(Raymond) Abeyta, Edna Moore, Tillie,(Frank) Luna, brother Juan Medina and many godchildren, nieces and nephews who were all very special to him. A Rosary will be recited Friday March 3, 2023 at 7:00 pm at the San Lorenzo Catholic Church in Abo, NM. Mass will be celebrated Saturday March 4, 2023 at 11:00 am at Saint Alice Catholic Church in Mountainair, NM with father Jordan Sanchez officiating. Burial will follow in the San Lorenzo Catholic Cemetery in Abo, NM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Saint Vencent De Paul society in Mountainair, NM. Pallbearers will be Richard Florie, Marcus Florie, Ignacio Large, Johnathon Martinez, Lorenzo Florie, Carlos Medina and Anthony Perea. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary.
