Phyllis Jeanene Scarberry

Phyllis Scarberry, beloved mother, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 86 on December 2, 2022. She was a longtime resident of the Estancia Valley. She was born August 19, 1936 in Hunnington, WV to Charles & Garnet Donhue. Professionally, Phyllis worked as a pharmacist tech. Her greatest job and passion in life though, was being a dedicated and loving mother. Her heart was always with her boys. Phyllis loved the simple things in life. She loved a good word puzzle and flowers. She kept everyone around her laughing with her sense of humor. Always a kind and nurturing presence, if a stray dog or cat came her way, it wasn’t long before Phyllis had taken it into her home and showered it in love. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Robert Appleby. She is survived by her son, David Appleby, who has been her constant companion and caregiver for the last several years and her grandson, Jonathan Appleby. Phyllis’s life will be honored at graveside services Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Mountain View Cemetery in Moriarty, NM.
