Phyllis Sue "Gram" Hughes

Sue (Gram) Sharp Hughes, 82, passed away on May 6, 2023 at her home in Estancia, NM with her loving family beside her. Sue was born on January 16, 1941 at the family ranch in Torrance, NM to Laban and Leta (Heisch) Sharp. Sue married her high school sweetheart Charles Hughes on December 20, 1958 then graduated from Corona High. Sue was a lifetime resident of New Mexico, where she owned her Beauty Salon “Sue’s Hairstyling” for many years. Sue was a member of the Corona Cowbells, Presbyterian Church in Corona, the Estancia Methodist Church and the Beta Sigma Phi. Sue will be deeply missed by all her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 60 years Charles Hughes, son-in-law, Martin Encinias, brother-in-law, Wayne Tubbs and nephew, Brad Cartwright. Sue is survived by her daughter, Lisa Encinias of Estancia, NM; son, Mike Hughes and wife Lisa of Alamogordo, NM; sisters, Patsy Tubbs of Claredon Texas; Janie Cartwright and husband Paul of Moriarty, NM; brothers, Larry Sharp and wife Barbra of Prewitt, NM; Leslie Sharp and wife Bonnie of Oklahoma; Billy Sharp and wife Martha of Fort Sumner, NM; Jerry Sharp of Corona, NM; Sue was blessed with 6 grandchildren, Kendra Encinias-Otis, Michael Hughes, Kyle Encinias (Vanessa), Leah Jo Acosta (Roman), Chris Hughes (Dayna) and Charlie Encinias (Randa); 12 great grandchildren, Payton Otis, Lyndi Otis, Lucas Acosta, Russell Acosta, Andy Otis, Esteban Acosta, Ethan Hughes, Bohdi Hughes, Roe Encinias, Hardy Encinias, Rye Encinias and Toke Encinias; many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the Presbyterian Church in Corona, NM.
