Nicolas "Nick" Sedillo

August 28, 1935 — November 30, 2023

Nick Sedillo, Sr., 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Estancia, NM on Thursday, November 30, 2023, with his daughter by his side. Nick was a quiet and humble man, you could say a man of few words, and yet the life he lived spoke volumes. He showed profound love and devotion to his family, especially his wife Rita. He loved going to church with her, and of course having lunch at their favorite spots. Nick always ordered the same thing, huevos-rancheros, no matter the time of day. When he lost his best friend (Rita) almost 3 years ago, his devotion continued as he visited her gravesite every day come rain or shine. Nick was a loving and dedicated Grandfather. He enjoyed taking his grandkids to and from school daily. Nick never missed a sporting event of his grandkids. He was always there to help them. He loved building, fixing, and restoring cars only to make sure that each grandchild received one. He enjoyed playing his guitar, reading, and teaching this family traits like kindness and generosity, not with words but with actions. The community will remember Nick for his devotion to his church, his love for God, his love for the word of God and his devotions that he read daily. He exemplified what it is to be a man after God’s heart. Nick Sedillo, Sr. worked as the Maintenance Superintendent for the Town of Estancia for 25 years until his retirement. Nick was also a volunteer firefighter for the Town of Estancia from 1973 to 1988. He made many friends throughout his career. He will be remembered by his friends and neighbors for his kindness, lending a helping hand with mowing lawns, pulling weeds, and taking out their trash. He never expecting anything in return. Nick never looked for praise and never boasted; he just quietly served others. He was a loyal friend that never spoke a negative word about anyone. Nick Sedillo, Sr. will be remembered for the amazing legacy he leaves his family and friends. He was a firm foundation, a man of principle and integrity who always showed kindness and love. One of our greatest blessings is to call him husband, dad, grandfather, and friend. His life will forever be cherished in our hearts.
