Nabay Hindi

July 31, 1930 — December 6, 2019

Nabay Hindi, born July 31, 1930, in Duran, New Mexico fell asleep in death on December 6, 2019 in his Duran home at the age of 89.   Nabay was a hard-working rancher who raised sheep and cattle all his life. He helped run the family business until his father, a Lebanese immigrant, died in 1974. At that time, Nabay started his own ranching business. Nabay loved the ranch and was a real “man of the land.” He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting arrowheads. He was a loving and patient man who always found joy in sharing his knowledge and experience with others, particularly his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. Nabay loved his family and regularly made opportunities to take them with him to the ranch to check the sheep, for a picnic, or just to watch the rain and spend time together.   At the age of 64, Nabay became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He loved what he learned from the Bible and shared it with others in the ministry. Nabay served as an elder in the local congregation where he regularly conducted congregation Bible studies and meetings. He participated in many Kingdom Ministry School courses and learned how to be a spiritual shepherd. Nabay also became an effective public teacher, minister, and counselor. He was affectionately known among his spiritual family as “Grandaddy” and “Daddy Nabay”.   Nabay is survived by his wife Vivian (Tapia), his daughter Elaine (Michael) Holt, and his three sons Nabay Alex (Rebecca) Hindi, Gary (Debbi) Hindi, and Samuel Hindi. Nabay also has six grandchildren (Zuleika, Tara, Taleisha, Heather, Gary Jr., and Kiran) and ten great grandchildren.   Memorial services will be at 1:00pm on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Moriarty (308 Martinez Rd, Moriarty, NM 87035). It will be delivered by a close personal friend, Nick Beitz. A reception will follow at the Moriarty Civic Center. In memory of Nabay, donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the worldwide work of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
