Modesto Ortiz, 76, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on October 19,2024 in Moriarty, New Mexico. He was born on March 2,1948 in Palma, NM to Bernardita (Trujillo) and Rudolfo Ortiz Sr. and had 12 brothers and sisters. He married the love of his life Norma Ortiz, and they have 2 children, Chris and Tim Ortiz. Modesto was a kind-hearted, loving Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Brother, Cousin, Uncle, and Friend. Modesto had many professions in his life, from being a mechanic, all types of construction, hot plant foreman and a co-owner and operator of an electrical business with his son Tim until he retired. Modesto loved spending time with his family, cooking, going to the ranch to check on the cows and watching football. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Norma Ortiz, parents Rudolfo and Bernardita Ortiz, brothers Leroy and Frank, and sister Julia Gomez. Brothers In Law- Kenny Harrison, Robert Harrison, George Harrison, Ronnie Harrison, Carlos Sigala and Alfonso Apodaca. Sisters In Law- Margaret Veuthey and Deana Holocker.

He is survived by his sons Chris Ortiz and Tim and wife Angela Ortiz. Grandchildren Devin Ortiz, Katie and husband Conrad Truchly, Desiree Garcia (Joseph Gil) and Nick Garcia. Great grandchildren Sophia Rose Gil and Dominic Modesto Gil. His brothers Alfonso (Delia), John (Jeanie), Dimas (Jane), Rudy (Mildred), Eddie (Joann). Sisters Esabel Sigala, Connie Apodaca, Martha (Frank)Baca, Cecelia (Cal) Baca. Sisters in Law Jean Ortiz and Virginia Ortiz, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers: Tim Ortiz, Devin Ortiz, Chris Ortiz, JJ Ortiz, Bobby Ortiz, Michael Ortiz, Joseph Gil, Mike Harrison. Honorary Pallbearers: Desiree Garcia, Nick Garcia, Katie Truchly and Conrad Truchly.

Services will be on Friday October 25,2024 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. The Rosary at 9 am and Mass at 10 am. Burial will be at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish Hall in Moriarty.
