Melvin Clint Sultemeier

February 23, 1940 — September 5, 2023

Melvin Clint Sultemeier, 83 passed away Tuesday September 5, 2023, in Edgewood NM. He was born February 23, 1940, along with twin sister Marietta to Frank W Sultemeier JR and Sidra Jean Franks Sultemeier in Corona NM. He grew up raising sheep and cattle with his dad. In 2006, the sheep were all sold due to predators and the cattle remained. He attended Corona Schools where he played football and basketball and graduated in 1958. He married Marian Kay Allen on January 21, 1963. They would have been married 63 years this next January. They welcomed their son Brent on August 29, 1962, and later welcomed their daughter Sabra on March 17, 1967. They made their home on the ranch where they lived for 60 years until the ranch sold and they bought a place south of town and had their dream home. With declining health, he didn’t get to enjoy their new place very long and moved to Beehive Homes in Edgewood NM. Melvin went to work for Transwestern Pipeline in 1967 and worked there until 1981. He started Sultemeier Well Service in 1977 and knew the ins and outs of water wells. He ran the truck until 2015. Melvin was a lifetime member of the NRA, Elks Club and NM Wool Growers. He was a kind and generous man that would give his shirt off his back to anyone in need. He liked to fish and hunt in northern NM and Colorado with his dad Frankie, Willie, little Bill and Brent. All family vacations were at a lake fishing. Melvin never met a stranger and had many friends that have checked on him throughout the year and especially the last 15 months while he was at the nursing home. Survivors include his wife Kay of the family home, his son Brent and wife Tammy of Carlsbad, Ryan, Megan, Kaden and Gunner of New Richmond WI, Dakota Bloodworth of Carlsbad. Daughter Sabra Davidson and husband Jack, Grandson Ryan Davidson of Deming, Tysa Hiett and husband Clinton and his great grandkids who lit up his world, Casyn and Kylar of Maypearl, TX. Sisters Marietta Powell of Ignacio CO and Connie Sultemeier of Farmington, NM. As well as many nephews. He thought highly of his Brother-in-law, Butch Allen and wife Tommie. Special people in his life were Virgil Owen of Corona, Ralph and Patsy Bonner of Placitas and Bill Ledbetter of Washington. He loved his wife, kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He was proceeded in death by his dad Frank W. Sultemeier, Mother Sidra Jean Sultemeier, Catherine Bonner Sultemeier, John Powell and Brandon Ledbetter as well as his favorite dog, Sadie. Special thanks to Beehive Homes and his hospice team for all the great care and love. A Graveside service will be held Saturday, September 9, at 11:00 AM at the Corona Cemetery in Corona New Mexico.
