Matthew Nicholas Farley, 87, passed away Friday, June 26, 2020 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Nick was born March 9, 1933 to Matthew Clay Farley and Alta Farley in Ranger, West Virginia. He graduated from Guyan Valley High School in 1953. While in high school, Nick excelled in athletics, Lettering in Football, Basketball, Baseball and Track. A natural athlete, Nick learned the value of Teamwork early, which proved invaluable in his future personal and professional relationships. Nick drove a tractor trailer for most of his career and retired from the ElBar Trucking Co. after 25 years. He met his beautiful bride, Fileta Marlene Messinger, in high school and they married in April of 1955 in Nitro, West Virginia. They recently celebrated their 65-year wedding anniversary on April 9th, 2020. Nick loved to spend time with his family and friends & was actively involved in his local Baptist Church. He also enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, Horseback Riding, Farming and just sitting on his front porch, enjoying the “Country Life.” Nick is survived by his wife, Marlene & sons, Brian, Daniel and Steven. Nick was preceded in death by his parents and son, James Nicholas Farley. Nick has five sisters, Lottie Midkiff of West Hamlin, West Virginia; Flossie Conley of Proctorville, Ohio; Oleta Dolan & Husband Bill of Barboursville, West Virginia; Nellie Roush & Husband Larry of Albemarle N.C.; Cleo Howard & Husband Lloyd of Albuquerque, NM. Nick was loved dearly by his five sisters. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 29, 2020 at Moriarty First Baptist Church, Moriarty, New Mexico at 12:00 pm, Viewing will be at 11:00 am with Pastor Johnny Spicer officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
