Mary Martha Tenorio’s courageous battle came to an end on September 30, 2024. She passed away surrounded by loved ones. Simple lines of words cannot truly encompass the life that Martha lived and the profound spark she brought to everyone she met. She was one of a kind and a true fighter. She was a loving mother and wife, devout Jehovah’s Witness, and the kindest friend anyone could ask for. Martha was born on August 9, 1953, in Milagro, NM. She grew up with her 5 older brothers and 6 older sisters, spending her days on the family ranch and running about. Being the youngest sibling, she took full advantage of being the ‘baby’ of the family-a fact that brought shared laughter between Martha and any of her sisters anytime it was mentioned, even years later. She met Charles Tenorio in 1968, both still teenagers. They were both raised in small towns, shared similar values, and were smitten with each other. They married on July 29, 1972, and knew they wanted to grow their family. Within a few years, they had welcomed their daughter, Monica, and son, Junior, to the world. In 1978, Martha and Charles started their own business, where Martha was the backbone of the operation- not a single ‘i’ was dotted or ‘t’ crossed, without Martha. In addition to the family business, Martha also worked for the City of Moriarty for over 10 years, where she enjoyed meeting and visiting with people from the community. Martha was a devout Jehovah’s Witness, and her steadfast faith served as an example to many. Her love for her faith, family, friends, and community radiated from her in every aspect of life. There is simply not enough that can be said of the joy she brought to so many. She will be missed tremendously. The memories we all got to share with Martha are held tight in our hearts- from her infectious smile (sometimes it was a mischievous grin), her words of wisdom and acts of faith, to her love of food and feeding others, her fondness for dancing and singing, and her infallible strength in everything she did. We were so lucky to be able to celebrate Charles and Martha’s 52nd wedding anniversary with family cherishing the moment alongside them- a true testament to the love and strength her and Charles shared throughout their lives together. Martha’s exemplary standard on how to live and love will continue in each and every life she touched. We are all so blessed to have known her. Martha is preceded in death by her parents, Justo and Erinea Gonzales, her mother-in-law, Josefita Tenorio, father-in-law Charlie Tenorio, her brothers Ted and Benny Gonzales, brothers in law Ford Jacobs Garth Tavenner, Gabby Parraz, Herman Armijo, and Bob Coca, sisters in law Della Gonzales, Mary Gonzales and Dorthy Gonzales. Martha’s memory lives on through her husband and love of her life, Charles Tenorio, daughter Monica (Jimmy) Fischer, son Charles (Brecken) Tenorio Jr., grandson Chris Fischer, granddaughters Harli Fischer, Alex and Jadyn Tenorio, sisters Vera Jacobs, Maryanne Armijo, Fedelia(Severiano “Kard”) Sisneros, Sadie Tavenner, Lorraine Parraz, Dolly (Adan) Encinas, brothers Manuel Gonzales, Fred Gonzales, and Adam Gonzales, sisters in law, Loretta (Joey) Rivera, Silvia (Rudy) Ortega, Louisa Coca, dear friends Cenia (JP), Nebay and Becky Hindi, Uncle Joe Lovato, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
