Mary Matilda Searle

Mary M Searle (GGMAW) of Moriarty, NM was born in St. Ann, Illinois , daughter of Orinda (Gagnon) Varvel on March 26,1938. She passed away after a short illness on December 6th, 2023. She met the love of her life James L. Searle through her sister Rosie while working at the Bear Brand Hosiery co. They were married on Aug 3,1954. They had 5 children Sherrie, Peggy, Matthew, Mark, and Julie. They lived in Chebanse and Aroma Park, Illinois for many years, and Moved to NM in the 1980’s. She worked for the beauty department at Kay Drugs. She attended and was a member of the Moriarty Baptist Church. Mary loved passing the time by making beautiful quilts and she had many of them. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her mother, her sister Rosie Ohrt, her husband Jim in October for 2003, her son Mark in September of 2013, her daughter Peggy in November 2023. She survived by her daughters Sherie and Julie, son and daughter-in-law Matt and Cathy Searle, granddaughters Krystal and her husband Damon Ritter, Malerie Riley and Jon Sellars, great-grandchildren Jamie and Aidan Ritter, Skylar, Maverick, and Ryker Sellars, sister-in-law Nancy Jo Searle, brother-in- law Franklin Swan, Sister-in-law Marlene and Larry Heagle. Private services will be held on Tuesday, December 19th at 1pm at the Harris Hanlen Funeral Home in Moriarty, NM. She will be laid to rest with her daughter Peggy at the Sunset Memorial Park with her Husband Jim.
