Mary Alice Drolte went to be with her Heavenly Father on May 7, 2020 after a long battle with heart failure. Mary Alice was born the daughter of Kenneth Roy Ray and Lelia Mae Scott-Ray in San Angelo, Tx on August 11, 1931. Her mother remarried her stepfather Bruce Hook and she was raised Mary Alice Hook from age 5. She never met a stranger and had a way of making people comfortable from the moment they began talking. She lived in Texas, Florida, Louisiana, Ohio, California, back to Texas and finally settling in Estancia, NM for the last 16 years. She made many contributions to the communities where she lived. She was a member of NAMI and more recently was a long-time board member of Enchantment Legacy of Estancia, NM. The years she lived in El Paso gave her the opportunity to serve the Mental Health Community. She was dedicated to creating normalcy in the lives of this population. After she was widowed in her late 50’s she started a new career as the Director of La Familia Del Paso, Inc., a psychosocial rehabilitation club. The program under her guidance provided life changing opportunities for its members with mental health issues. She spearheaded and managed a million-dollar grant process that created an apartment complex dedicated to independent living for that same population. Mary Alice made lasting friends in Torrance County, NM through her church Estancia United Methodist Church, the Estancia Senior Center and the much-loved monthly luncheons at the First Baptist Church, Estancia. She was preceded in death by husband Frederic P. Drolte, sons Mark S. Horner, Guy M Horner and grandson Michael F Saenz. She is survived by two younger brothers Kenneth Ray and his wife Jeane of Gilmer, Tx and Jerry Ray and his wife Shirley of Kountze, Tx as well as her daughter Valerie S Arevalo of Estancia, NM and her son Lance Horner and his wife Carolyn of Flower Mound, Tx. She had 6 grandchildren, Daniel Saenz, David Saenz, Tristan Arevalo, Hunter Arevalo, Nicholas Horner, Mckenzie Horner and one great granddaughter Hailynn Arevalo. A special thank you to the Presbyterian Hospice team and her Enchantment Legacy caregiver Mary Sedillo for helping us to make it possible for her to remain in her home. Mary Alice asked in lieu of Flower to please send contributions to La Familia Del Paso, Inc. in El Paso, Tx. or Estancia United Methodist Church, in Estanica, NM.
