Mary Agnes Akin

Mary Agnes Akin, 99, of Estancia, NM passed away on May 15, 2022, at her home in Estancia, NM. Mary was born on July 30, 1922, in Live Oak, CA to Michael and Marie (Keck) Zoerlaut. Mary married Joe Akin on June 9, 1945, in Yuma, AZ. Mary’s greatest joy was her children and grandchildren and raising flowers especially Dahlias. Mary was the daughter of German immigrants. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joe Akin; 3 brothers; 5 sisters; sons, Gerald Peer, Robert Akin and great granddaughter, Mikayla Yvonne Smythe. Mary is survived by her son, David Akin and Dominica of McIntosh, NM; daughter, Marilyn Akin of Estancia, NM; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. A special thanks to Mary Sedillo and Bernice Chavez for the love and support that they gave our mother. A Rosary will be held Friday, May 20, 2022, at 10:30 AM with a Mass to follow at 11:30 AM at Saint Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Estancia, NM. Burial will follow at the Estancia Memorial Cemetery in Estancia, NM. Pallbearers will be Leroy Peer, Mike Akin, Todd Smythe, Keith Peer, Kelsey, Peer, and Taylor Smythe.
