Mark Harvey Wilkerson Obituary Mark Harvey Wilkerson passed away peacefully on June 19, 2020 as the Lord knew he had suffered enough. Mark died from a very, very rare form of blood/bone marrow cancer- Myelodysplastic Syndromes with Myeloproliferative Neoplasms. He was born July 14, 1956 in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico to Ronald Dean and Goldie Lee (Burchett) Wilkerson. His father was a minister for the Church of Christ and Mark grew up as a “preacher’s kid”. He graduated from Cuba High School (Cuba, NM) in 1974. He attended Lubbock Christian College and transferred to Oklahoma Christian College majoring in Chemistry and Biology with a minor in Bible receiving his Bachelor’s degree in 1980. He married the love of his life Vicki Jolynn Smith on October 3, 1981 and they honeymooned in Si Pa Pu, NM returning to Albuquerque with a beautiful hot air balloon ascension in view on October 10, 1981. He and his wife moved to Los Alamos and to Espanola in 1983, their son Daniel Matthias was born on July 18, 1983 in Los Alamos. Their son, Hugh Ronald was born April 8, 1986 in Santa Fe, NM. They returned to Albuquerque in 1997 and moved to Edgewood, NM in 2008. He worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory for almost 15 years and then held various other jobs. He became disabled in 2006. He began having signs of his condition in 2014, but was not diagnosed until March 2020 at which time his cancers advanced and were unstoppable causing his death in just 3 months. Mark loved God and his Savior Jesus Christ and his family with all his heart. Everything he had and needed was because our Father in Heaven gave it to us. He never stopped loving God when things didn’t go well and held Jesus hand as he bravely journeyed to his resting place with the Lord and won the final victory over death through Jesus. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Harvey Ernest Wilkerson and Martha Elkins Wilkerson, his maternal grandparents William Howard and Neola Foster Burchett, and his father, Ronald Dean Wilkerson. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Vicki, his sons Daniel and Hugh, his mother Goldie, his Don and wife Kathleen Wilkerson, his sister Sherry Dekeyzer and husband, Ron, nephews Jason Nichols and wife Elissa, Jeremy Nichols, Shane Wilkerson and wife, Julia, Clint Wilkerson and wife Klyrisa, nieces Jessica Lucero and husband, Travis, Jennifer Pinson and husband, Patrick, Dixie Thomas and husband, Grant and Stacy Cole and husband, Jason, and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews, his wife’s brother’s family, Richard Smith and wife, Ann and niece Evie, with whom he was very close, his gaming friends of over 15 years that he considered his family and his friends. His loving heart, humility, kindness and since of humor will be missed by all. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Moriarty Church of Christ Minister John Booth, officiating. Address: 219 Irene Avenue Moriarty, NM.
