Mark Olivas January 10, 1959 – January 2, 2022 Mark Olivas, 62, suddenly went to be with our Lord on January 2, 2022, just eight days prior to his 63rd birthday. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe (JJ) and Rose Olivas and his mother-in-law Reynalda Tapia (Mama-san) to whom he was very close. He leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Margie (Shorty); daughters Leslie and Lauren; his three brothers: Danny and wife Stella; Fred and wife Irene; Frank and wife Lalande; many nephews and nieces and family friends; and his much-spoiled dogs Buzz and Belle. Mark served as a Police Officer with the City of Albuquerque and retired after 20 years of service in December 1999. He worked at other jobs including 17 years with UNM Hospital. In September of 2018, Mark fully retired. Mark was a wonderful husband and father who loved spending time with his family, camping, fishing, and going on road trips. Throughout the years, he became a jack of all trades and was known for his willingness to lend a helping hand. He found it difficult to sit still and was always looking for the next project that would keep him busy. A memorial service will be held on May 21, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Crossroads Bible Fellowship, located at 2412 U.S. Route 66, Edgewood, NM. Pastor Gale Holt will officiate.
