A Celebration of Life for Lois Ann Ratliff will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 2, 2024, at the Corona United Presbyterian Church in Corona, NM with David Brunson officiating. All of Lois Ann’s family and friends are invited to attend the service and share lunch at the church at 12 noon. Interment will follow the service at the Corona Cemetery. The pallbearers will be J. D. Kibbe, John Wilken, Bobby Carroll, Bunk Mullins, Mark Sultemeier, and David Brunson. Honorary pallbearers will include Tom Porter, Don Wilken, Carl Wilken, Dwayne Kibbe, Luke Diaz, Brad Holland, and the Class of 1971. Lois Ann (Holleyman) Ratliff, 71 of Glendale, Arizona, passed away on July 16, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Lois Ann was born on June 14, 1953, in Midland, Texas, the oldest daughter of John D. and Eva Mae Holleyman. Growing up in Corona on the family ranch with a younger sister Karen and younger brother Lon, she developed a love for the ranch and the land. She attended the Corona Public Schools for 12 years and graduated as the salutatorian of the class of 1971. Following high school, she attended Eastern New Mexico University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in accounting.
After graduation, Lois Ann began a long and impressive career as a Finance Administrator and Accountant. Working for The Office Center, Inc. in Portales, NM, she managed the financial records of the business for over 10 years.
Lois Ann married Darryl Ratliff on June 21, 1986, in Portales. After a year, they relocated to El Paso, TX to engage in new career opportunities. She began working for Wheeler and Campbell Accounting Firm as a tax accountant. Later, she transitioned from private business accounting to a government financial position. She was employed as the supervisor of the El Paso Housing Authority until 1995.
Lois Ann relocated for a final time to Glendale, AZ, where she was promoted to the Director of Finance for Housing and Urban Development for the City of Phoenix. Supervising and analyzing the financial resources for public housing in the sixth largest city in the nation, she continued to work for HUD until her battle with Multiple Sclerosis required her to slow down. Despite many challenges, she continued to work from home as a tax accountant until this past spring.
Darryl and Lois Ann were blessed with two daughters, Karen Danielle and Heather Juhl. Karen is a nurse at the Pheonix Children’s Hospital, and Heather teaches math at Arroyo Elementary. The family has resided in Glendale, AZ for 29 years.
Lois Ann grew up attending the Corona United Presbyterian Church and was baptized in April of 1966. She lived the scripture from 2 Timothy 1:7, “God did not give her a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.” Through her many health challenges, God walked beside her. Lois Ann and Darryl attended the Dove of the Desert United Methodist Church in Glendale, AZ.
Lois Ann was an avid sports fan. A huge fan of both professional baseball and football, she traveled many times to watch the Dallas Cowboys at Texas Stadium and once to watch the Atlanta Braves at Truitt Park. Growing up traveling and watching her dad rope, she developed a love for rodeo. She enjoyed watching the Cowboy Channel and her many family members as they participated in rodeo events. Over the years, she relished opportunities to cheer for her daughters and all her nieces and nephews in their many sporting events.
Lois Ann is survived by her husband Darryl Ratliff and two daughters Karen Ratliff and Heather Ratliff of Glendale, AZ; her sister Karen Kibbe and husband Dwayne of Portales, NM; nieces Kasi Holland and husband Brad of Fort Sumner, NM, and Jodi Diaz and husband Luke of Portales, NM; nephew J. D. Kibbe of Portales, NM; great nephews Jordan Holland, Derrick Holland, Baylor Diaz, Devin Diaz, Kamden Diaz, Kacen Diaz; also cousins Donna McArthur and husband James of El Paso, TX; Don Wilken of Las Cruces, NM; Carl Wilken and wife Pam of California; John Wilken and wife Jane of Wilcox, AZ; all other relatives and a host of good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents John D. and Eva Mae (Wilken) Holleyman and her brother James Lon Holleyman.
