Lilly Okabe Schnell

September 16, 1934 — May 22, 2020

Lilly Okabe Schnell, born Sept. 16th, 1934 was called home to the Lord on May 22, 2020. Our beloved mother, was a daughter, sister as well as a friend to many. She retired as Food and Beverage Manager from the Santa Teresa Country Club near El Paso Texas in 2001, but was well-known in the 1970's and 1980's as manager of the Imperial House and Crystal Room restaurants in Albuquerque. Both were noted for impeccable service, elegance and gourmet dining. She is survived by her daughters Sharon Franklin and Ruth Anglin, son-in-law Perry Anglin, grandchildren Ray Franklin, Ashley Ehler and husband Paul, Thomas Anglin and fiancé Chandler and one “grandgrandbaby” Finn Alexander Franklin. She left behind many dear friends at her Albuquerque Oasis Group and from her quilting events. Born in Kyoto, Japan she was proceeded in death by her parents Fujia Ogawa (mother) and Otojiro Okabe (father), her brother Isamu Okabe and son Bradford Franklin. With her heavy accent she'd tell you that earning her American Citizenship was one of her proudest accomplishments. Lilly accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior many years ago and His Light shined within her. Her generous spirit touched many lives. As a caring, loving woman, she always had a smile on her face. No matter where she went, she made friends. You just couldn't help but love her. Receiving voice training as a child gave her a love of singing and Karaoke. An absolute football fanatic, she cheered for her Steelers or Oklahoma Sooners. Her family thanks all that have offered support during this grievous time. We are overwhelmed and most certainly blessed by the love shown to Lilly by family and friends. Her time was short, but we feel blessed with the time the Lord let us spend with her. Due to current circumstances, we were unable to hold a memorial. In lieu of flowers, mom would have appreciated donations in her name, to either of her two favorite places; CROSSROADS BIBLE FELLOWSHIP, 2412 U.S. Route 66, Edgewood, NM 87015 Or .. OASIS ALBUQUERQUE, PO Box 35518, Albuquerque 87176.
