Leopoldo "Leo" F. Lucero

Leopoldo “Leo” F. Lucero, 81, passed away on May 20, 2019, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born on March 31, 1938 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to the late Antonio and Ramona (Carabajal) Lucero. Leo was a longtime resident of New Mexico and a member of the Cross Christian Church in Albuquerque, NM. Leo liked to spend his time fishing and tending to his garden. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Tony Lucero, Pete Lucero and Luis Lucero. Leo is survived by his beloved wife, Gennie Lucero of Albuquerque, NM; son, George Lucero of Albuquerque, NM; daughters, Helen Tafoya and husband John of Lake Havasu, AZ, Cindy Chacon and husband Steven of Albuquerque, NM and Sandra Lucero of Albuquerque, NM and sister, Mary Baca. Leo was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Edgewood, NM on Friday, May 24, 2019. The Viewing will be at 9:00 A.M. The Rosary will be recited at 10:00 A.M. with the Celebration of Mass to follow at 11:00 A.M. Father Lancaster will officiate. Pallbearers will be Dominic Chacon, Stephen Chacon Jr., Isaiah Diaz, Jose Vergas, Gilbert Lucero and Vidal Tapia. Honorary Pallbearers will be Donald Sanchez, Leonard Sanchez, Michael Gutierrez, Jonathan Tafoya and Jerad Tafoya. Burial will follow at the La Madera Cemetery in Cedar Crest, NM.
