Kenneth L. Wallin (Ken) 71, passed away suddenly at home on July 26, 2024. Ken’s love and dedication to his family will forever be remembered and cherished. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Cherie Wallin and 2 sons Kenneth Lee Wallin II and wife Bessie and Chad Wallin and wife Kristin. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren Patrick, Kyle, Cade, Nathan, Jaycee, Bristal, and Chevy. In addition to his immediate family, he is also survived by 3 brothers, their wives, and many nieces and nephews, each one were special to him.

Ken was born to Gayland and Peggy Wallin in Montrose, Colorado in 1953. He was one of five brothers Nick(deceased), Dennis, Don and Scott. The Wallins lived in Southwestern Colorado and Southern New Mexico during Ken’s youth. He graduated from Silver Highschool in Silver City, New Mexico. He and Cherie met there and were sweethearts from then on. They married in 1972 and had 2 sons. They moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1979 where he started working with his brothers in the family business, Wallin Construction Company. The family moved to the Moriarty area in 1987, where Ken became co-owner of Moriarty Concrete Products and a founding member of Duke City Redi-Mix, which grew to be the largest concrete supplier in the Albuquerque area.

Ken was a family man and was very involved in his sons’ youth sports as a coach, mentor, fan, and true supporter. He was an active member of community where he not only supported his sons, but his nieces, nephews and grandchildren in all their sports and activities. 

Ken loved the sport of horseracing and became an active member of the horseracing community throughout New Mexico for over 35 years. He loved attending the races all over the Southwest United States where he befriended many people within the community.

Services will be held at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty on August 9th, 2024 at 11am.
