Josefita Montoya, age 85, our beloved Nana, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband Celso Montoya; mother, Isabelle Gallegos; father, Manual Gallegos; sisters, Gloria Gallegos, Cecilia Sanchez; brothers, Arthur Gallegos, Delo Gallegos, Ray Gallegos, Herman Gallegos, David Gallegos ;son Jesse Vallejos ; daughter Marylou Armijo; Grandsons Leonard and Adrian . She is survived by her brothers, Jose E. Gallegos, Joselino Gallegos, and Mike Gallegos; sisters, Patty Jimenez, Irene Olivas, Ruth Maldonado, Crucita Gallegos, and Lilly Dimas; her sons, Gilbert Gallegos and Richard Vallejos; daughter Doris Martinez ; grandchildren, Natalie, Tina, Rebecca, Emily, Jennifer, Joseph, Manuel, Crystal, Max, Jesse, Ernest, Desiree, Cindy, Albert, Christopher ; great-grandchildren, Amaginet, Kenneth, Aaliyah, Sadie, Orlando, Ivan, Camron and numerous others as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Fita was known for her red chile as she won 1st place in the Barela’s chile cook off for 17 years. If you asked her how she made her chile she would say “with my hands!” She was not only a beautiful lady, but she was also kind, funny and loving. She loved to dance and sing any chance she got. You could guarantee you would hear her say “It’s old age my dear” at least once in any conversation she had.
