Johnny Joe Plant

Johnny Joe Plant May 4, 1964-July 12, 2023 Johnny Joe Plant (JP), 59, passed away peacefully on July 12th after a year and a half battle with cancer. Joe was born in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 4, 1964 to the late Johnny Will Plant & Mercedes Zarate. Joe was raised in Nevada up until the age of 23 & graduated in 1984. Joe moved to Moriarty in 1987 to help in caregiving for his father. Joe also worked as a fabricator & at the NM State Fairgrounds for many years, & then settled with the Town of Estancia for 17 years doing public works, fire department, & animal control. Joe had a daughter, Jolynda, in 1989, & a granddaughter, Abrianna, in 2013. Joe is preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas & Pauline Plant & Eulalio & Virginia Zarate; parents Johnny Plant & Mercedes Zarate; half sister Ramona Jimenez; half brother Juan Portillo; godmother Rosie Mayorga; uncles, aunts, in-laws, & cousins. Joe is survived by his lady friend, Ida Lucero & her children Justin (Ashlea, Gabriel & Mila), Felicia, & Christopher (Jolene, Reign & Rose); daughter Jolynda Hernandez (Javier) & one grandchild Abrianna; sister Monica (Mona) Plant; brother Damon Plant; nephews Gary Heckathorn, Jose Gallegos & Wyatt Plant; nieces Lisa Plant (Derek); Cara Heckathorn(O’Ryan); & Elia Gallegos & Arianna Plant; great nephews Dante, Jacob, Aiden, Neo, Sèbastien; great nieces Briseis, Peighton, Penney (PJ) & Charlee. Joe will be remembered & deeply missed by all his family & friends. Memorial service will be held Friday, July 28, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Calvary Chapel Estancia Valley Church with pastor Mike Nasci officiating. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
