John Michael Richardson passed away quickly and unexpectedly from a cardiac arrest on November 6, 2019, at the age of 65 years. Born in Thibodaux, Louisiana to John Hunter and Lucye Evelyn Richardson (deceased) attended The College of the Ozarks, “Hard Work U,” before beginning his long and successful career as a Field Landman and Broker. John Michael and Marion were married on September 4, 1981in Broussard, Louisiana and have two beautiful children, Katherine and Jack. John Michael and Marion moved to New Mexico in 1988 to raise their family and work the San Juan and Permian Basin. John Michael was an active member of the American Association of Professional Landmen and a respected Certified Professional Landman. He served on the board of several organizations including the AAPL and the Moriarty School Board. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marion Richardson, daughter Katherine Richardson, son and daughter-in-law Jack and Sunnie Richardson, siblings Martha and Edward South, Mary Sue and Donald Lyle, Crosby and Cindy Richardson, Lewis and Lisa Richardson, along with their children and grandchildren which he adored. Pall bearers will be Jack Richardson, Matthew South, Hunter South, James Lyle, Jordon George, and Mitch Krakauskas with honorary pall bearers Edward South, Donald Lyle, Crosby Richardson, Louis Richardson, and Gary Whisenhunt. John Michael was the epitome of a righteous man amongst those that knew him, compassionate, giving, and kind. His love for the Lord and servant’s heart made him a wonderful husband, father, brother, and uncle. He had a deep respect and appreciation for the land, spending time in nature fishing, with his horses and animals, and tinkering in his barn. He was loved and revered by friends, church members, community, and business associates. A viewing will take place on Monday, November 11, 2019 from 6 – 8 pm at the Stanley Union Church which will include an opportunity for his loved ones to speak to John Michael’s life. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 10 am at the Stanley Union Church directly followed by a grave side service. A lunch and celebration of life will take place at 12:30 pm at the Moriarty Civic Center.
