James Edward Tolle

February 22, 1942 — December 24, 2022

James “Jim” Edward Tolle, 80, of Sandia Park, New Mexico, passed away the evening of Dec. 24, 2022. He was born to George and Jayne Tolle in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Texas Technological College with a Bachelor of Science in Education. In his successful business, Southwest Home Designs, he drew many home designs in the ABQ area. He was a steel detailer and helped design the famous Luxor hotel in Las Vegas. Jim met the love of his life, Norma, at Hoffmantown Baptist Church. They married in 1994. After retiring, he loved spending time outside with his big, yellow cat, Mister Sunshine. He was a Godly man, devout Christian, avid reader, firearm instructor, and Ham Radio operator; he loved animals, astronomy, and Blake's Lotaburger. He served eight years in the U.S. Army reserves, and faithfully took care of his mom until her passing. He loved family time, was a great conversationalist, and had so much wisdom to share. He always dressed nicely, was kind, smart, humble, thoughtful, and always ready to help anyone. Jim was predeceased by his parents. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Norma Ogilvie Tolle; children Tammy Parker, Bruce (Alicia) Rhoden, Brett Rhoden; grandchildren Bryce (Tayler) Parker, Tanea Parker, Kaysen and Kyla Rhoden, Blaze and Dayzee Rhoden, Jonathen Jaramillo, Jayden Jones; great-grandchildren Zephaniah Parker and baby Parker on the way; brother Bill (Charlotte) Tolle; loyal dogs Fancy and Pepper, lap cat Mister Sunshine; and many other friends and family. Papa, we love you so much, and we will greatly miss you. May your memory be a blessing. L’hitraot—it’s not goodbye; it’s until we see each other again. A memorial will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Animal Humane Society of New Mexico.
