James Calvin Pope was born to Frank and Mary Pope on April 5th, 1934. On July 15th, 2020, “Jim” Pope passed from this life into the loving arms of Jesus. He was 86 and he was loved. Isn’t that all we ever need say about anyone? That they were loved. That despite all circumstances, all the by-gone years, all the time and rains and winters and hot days and presidents and politics and life, that quite simply, they were loved. Jim was human, he made triumphs and trials like any man does. He was loved. Isn’t that enough? Do you know who loved Jim the most? God did. He loved him and accepted him and wanted nothing more than for Jim to feel this love and to know that he belonged. We all want to belong. We search high and low for this belonging. Jim belongs and he is at rest. May we all learn to love deeper and more fully in our present and future lives. Sweet rest, dear Jim, sweet rest. (Written for Jim by his sisters who loved him dearly).
