James, “Jimmy” Alan Ayers, 77 of Estancia, NM passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021 in Albuquerque, NM after battling complications from COVID. He was born on April 16, 1944 in Los Alamos, NM to Alan and Virginia Ayers. He graduated Highland High School in Albuquerque, NM in 1962 then attended New Mexico State University where he graduated with a B.S. in Ag Biology in 1969. He married Gayle Hille in 1974 in Las Cruces, NM. After college he worked for the Agricultural Sustainability and Conservation Service (ASCS) covering Dona Ana and Sierra counties. He also spent time in the construction industry. In 1980 he started a custom boot business where he made custom boots for 1000’s of people across the country for 41 years. In 1998, he stepped in and began managing the family ranch in Estancia, NM after the passing of his father Alan. He loved his family, his dogs, ranching, making boots, sports, horse racing, western dancing, and the cowboy way of life. He lived life on his terms, having fun all along the way. He never met a stranger and could carry a conversation with anyone regardless of how long he knew them. He is preceded in death by his parents Alan Nichols Ayers and Virginia Folks Ayers. He is survived by his wife Gayle of Estancia, NM, three children: Jamie Ayers and wife Christy of Lubbock, TX and their children Ethan, Aubree, and Jayton; Jimi Ann Losleben and husband Chris of Glendale, AZ and their children Bradley, Jocelyn and Brandon; Jeremy Ayers and wife Tatianna of Phoenix, AZ and their children Owen and Alivia; sister Betty Hochhalter and husband Mel of La Quinta, CA; sister Barbara Tatum of Glendale, CO; brother-in-law Rod Hille and wife Bonnie of T or C, NM; sister-in-law Ann Mobley of Dona Ana, NM; sister-in-law Linda Edwards and husband Joel of Lordsburg, NM; as well as many nieces, nephews and their children. Funeral services will be Wednesday December 15th 2021 with a viewing at 1:00 PM and service at 2:00 PM both at the first United Methodist Church in Estancia, NM with burial to follow at the Estancia Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Bill Gardner, Ernie Ortiz, Jason Edwards, Bradley Losleben, Chris Losleben and Trent Tatum In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranch.
