Moriarty, New Mexico – James “Doc” Davis died in his home on the morning of January 14th 2021. He was born in Blackshear, Georgia to James and Lleola Davis. He grew up on a farm raising pigs and growing tobacco. Doc joined the Army in July of 1960 where he met Virginia Card at Fort Gordon, Georgia. 56 days they married and were then stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. He completed his four year obligation to the Army and was honorably discharged in 1964. He later attended Palmer College of Chiropractic and moved to New Mexico and established his practice. Doc became the only Chiropractor in Moriarty for many years and was very active with the community. Doc was active with the Edgewood and Moriarty Fire District volunteering to drive ambulance. He was a member of the Moriarty Lions Club providing charitable service to members of the local community and volunteered to be the team doctor for the Moriarty Fighting Pintos Football Team. He was dedicated to the health and welfare of every patient and anyone passing through town that was in need, many times bartering for the service he provided. He leaves behind his loving wife Virginia of 58 years of marriage, sons James, Michael, Craig, Troy, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was a selfless man giving more of himself to others and will be truly missed.
