Gene B Zink, at the age 85 passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family, on October 17th,2022 in his home in McIntosh, NM. Gene was born 9/6/37 on his family’s farm in Marshall County, Indiana He Graduated class of 1955 from Tyner High School in Indiana. After gradation he joined the United States Navy, where he served on USS TUTUILA. He married his wife Lillian on September 14th, 1957. Gene and his family moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1968 and later to McIntosh NM in 1975. Gene was a member of the teamsters union, and Torrance County Sheriff’s Posse. Before retiring as a truck driver, he drove over a million miles and proudly never had any accidents. He has always had a love for animals and was especially passionate when it came to horses. He was delighted to share stories about his childhood growing up on a farm and has happiest when he was in the mountains riding his horse. A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather is survived by his wife of 65 years Lillian Zink “Hooty”; his children Brenda Barnes, Douglas & Karen Zink and Rodney Zink, his grandchildren Kristy & Jacob Harris and Jesse Barnes, his great grandchildren Tyler Montoya, Davin Harris, Jaquelyne Barnes, Jared Barnes, Sebastian Barnes, Zachary and his great-great grandson Michael Montoya. Burial services will be held at McIntosh Cemetery in Torrance County, New Mexico. Thursday October 20th 11:00am. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the McIntosh Cemetery, P.O. Box 41, McIntosh, NM 87032.
