Fred Montoya, 71, of Moriarty, New Mexico passed away on April 22, 2019 in Mt. Hope, Kansas. He was born January 18, 1948 to Manual and Magdalena (Pino) Montoya. He attended Moriarty Public Schools and received his Bachelor Degree in Animal Science from the New Mexico State University. He was a member of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church as well as the American Angus Association. He was a professional Cattle Fitter and Consultant. Fred will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Leroy Montoya and nephew, Chace Montoya. Fred is survived by his brothers, Facundo Montoya (Janet), Fidel Montoya, Michael Montoya (Julie) and Casey Ingram (Heather); sisters, Juana Saiz, Betty Knorr, Mary Ann Strohl (Sid) and Lucy McCurry (Geoff); sister in law, Jennifer Montoya as well as numerous nieces and nephews who loved him unconditionally. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2019 at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, NM. The viewing will be at 8:00 A.M. The Rosary will be recited at 9:00 A.M. with the celebration of Mass to follow at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be at the Montoya Cemetery in Stanley, NM. Pallbearers will be Arturo Pacheco, Miguel Pacheco, Marcelino Pacheco, Manuel Montoya, Jacob Strohl and Casey Ingram.
