Elvira L. Ortega passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday November 26th, 2022. Elvira was born in Clovis NM on September 16th, 1941 and married the love of her life in Richmond Texas on March 30th, 1978. Elvira was adventurous and enjoyed traveling with her husband and grandkids in their RV, she was also an accomplished square dancer and member of the American Legion. She was a loving and doting grandmother who enjoyed cooking for her family and beating her husband at rummy. Elvira had successful careers at the local printing company in Albuquerque, as a silversmith and goldsmith, and also fought for woman’s rights while working at Honeywell. Elvira follows parents Maguin and Martina Lucero, Mother-in-law Rebecca Ortega, brothers: George Jack and Mike Lucero, sister-in-law Judy Ortega, and Arlene Fitz-Simon, daughter Betty Jean Chavez, and grandson Samuel Burciaga. She is survived by loving husband of 50 years Manuel A. Ortega, brother Jose Lucero (wife), sisters Emma Flores (husband), and Connie Lucero. Sons Jr (wife), Richard Chavez, and Sam Ortega. Daughters: Beatrice Carlile (husband), and Betty Jean Ortega and multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren. Elvira will be remembered for her unconditional love for her family, her sense of humor, and her unending generosity. Viewing will be held at Chester T.
