Edgar Roy Scott

October 5, 1922 — March 13, 2018

Edgar Roy Scott, 95, of Estancia, New Mexico passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, peacefully in Albuquerque, NM at Lovelace Medical Center. Born on October 5, 1922, in Oologah, OK to Charley Wesley Scott and Rachel Clapham-Scott, Ed and his twin brother, who only survived a few days, were the youngest of 10 children. Ed came to the Estancia Valley with his family in 1926. A strong Christian witness, Ed spent many years serving God and the lovely people of the Estancia Valley as a cattleman and trader of antiques and other goods. He was an active member of the Estancia Assembly of God Church for 55 years.       Ed is survived by his wife of nearly 74 years, Charlene Lella Norris-Scott; his children: Calvin Lee (Barbara) of Douglas, AZ, and Edene Lynell Scott (Thomas Moxley) of Sierra Vista, AZ. His continuing generation and legacy consist of 3 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 9 siblings, and his great-grandson Ryan Wesley who died as an infant. He was interned in a family plot at Round Top Cemetery in the beautiful ranch country about 20 miles south of his Estancia home. Following his internment, instructions to the family were found in his Bible. Among the instructions were these words from Ed to the family, “Celebrate! I won’t be in that big box, I will be in heaven with Jesus and a great host of loved ones. My body has to go back to earth, but not me.”    The family would like to thank Pastor Louie Esquibel and the people of the First Assembly of God Church in Estancia for their love, support, and kindness. The family also thanks Grant Preston and the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary.
