Eddie Ernest Herrera

Eddie Ernest Herrera, 73, a longtime resident of Estancia, NM, passed away Thursday October 13, 2022, at his home in Estancia, NM. Eddie was born October 27, 1948 to Antonio and Manuelita (Griego) Herrera in Manzano, NM. He married Loyola Sedillo of Estancia, NM on August 26, 1972 in Manzano, NM, she preceded him in death December 18, 2003. Eddie was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and three brothers, Robert Herrera, Antonio Herrera Jr, and Augustine Herrera. Eddie is survived by one son, Solis Martin Herrera and his wife Antoinette of Chilili, NM; two daughters, Joyce Martinez and her husband David of Estancia, NM, and Louisa Herrera-Williams of Estancia, NM; Three brothers, Ignacio Herrera and wife Francis Herrera of Albuquerque, NM, Arturo Herrera and Debbie Maldonado of Manzano, NM, and LeRoy Herrera of Manzano, NM; five sisters, Tillie Herrera Brummell, Gloria Paez and Husband Eppie Paez of Manzano, NM, Isabel Sanchez of Albuquerque, NM, Diana Apodaca and Husband Mike Apodaca of San Bernardino, CA, and Cecilia Sanchez and Husband Eloy Sanchez of Bend, Oregon, Sister-in-law Connie Hermosillo of Albuquerque, NM, and Sister-in-law Mary Sedillo of Estancia, NM; and ten grandchildren and many, many nieces and nephews. Eddie was proud of his heritage, how he was raised in the Manzano mountains, and the hard work he was accustomed to growing up. He was a good friend to all who knew him. Eddie helped raise every one of his ten grandchildren, making sure they had everything they needed, especially love. You could always find him working out in the yard, building something, fixing something, or working at one of his children’s houses. He was proud to share his skills and knowledge with anyone who was willing to learn. Everyone who knows him always has a great story to share about him. He loved hunting, going for wood, being in the mountains, working in the yard listening to music, playing with the grandkids, and spending time with his family. Eddie served as a Mayordomo at St. Peter and Paul Catholic church for some time, and enjoyed serving Our Lord Jesus Christ and the church. He is one of a kind and will be greatly missed by his friends and family. A viewing and rosary will be held Thursday October 20, 2022 at 7:00 pm at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Estancia, NM. Mass will be held Friday October 21, 2022 at 10:00 am also at ST. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Estancia Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Marcus Herrera, Moises Herrera, Ryan Martinez, Darren Sherrill, Tony Herrera, Armando Herrera and Gabe Torres. Honorary pallbearers will be Solis Martin Herrera, David Martinez, Cameron Williams, Josilyn Herrera, Mercedes Herrera, Senaida Martinez, Savannah Williams, and Macaiah Williams. Funeral services were entrusted to the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary.
