Doris Maxwell, January 11, 1932 to January 20, 2021 Doris Marie Maxwell shed her earthly body and rejoined her Creator on January 20, 2021. In her new heavenly home she is surrounded by her husbands, Morgan Maxwell and Lawrence Peebles. Her sisters - Georgia, Louise, Ima, Betty and Martha are there to welcome her into the fold. She leaves behind six children, thirteen grandchildren, and countless friends and neighbors. Doris will be remembered as a strong, loving mother and wife. She is a child of God, and taught all of her children by example. She showed the way to be kind, compassionate, helpful, hard working and patient just by being herself. In her home, anyone hungry was fed. She made the best biscuits in the world, and grew a garden that fed her family all through the winter. More cowboys have sat down to a meal at her table after a hard day’s work than any of us can count. She truly delighted in seeing those around her enjoy a hearty meal, and the fellowship and banter that comes with good friends and neighbors. Her other pastimes included sewing, knitting, quilting and crocheting. Her belief in education led her to work with the scholarship committee of the Canyon Cowbells, and support the efforts of the New Mexico Boys and Girls ranches.
