Donald Duane Coburn

Donald Duane Coburn (Bobo), age 91, passed away peacefully in his home on April 28, 2024 in Estancia, New Mexico with his loving wife by his side. Duane was born on January 29, 1933 to Bud and Wanda Coburn in Stratford, Texas. Duane was the oldest of five children and shared a love for sports with his dad. Out of High School, Duane joined the United States Army and proudly served our Country. Shortly after, Duane met the love of his life Lorena Metzger. The two were married on December 31, 1955 in Estancia, New Mexico. Duane was a proud father of five, and instilled love and the importance of a hard work ethic in his children. Duane was a lifetime resident of New Mexico, where he worked for Mountain Bell for many years. Through many years of hard work, Duane hauled gas and oil to local farmers and ranchers, which eventually led to him building and running the Estancia Valley Napa Store. While the women held down the store, Duane and the boys joined Continental Oil Distributing company where they drove semis hauling gas and oil, in and out of state. Duane passed down a love for hunting, fishing and sports to his children, which was passed down to his grandchildren. Duane started driving the activity bus for the Estancia Municipal Schools, where he was able to actively participate in his family's love for sports. The Estancia Valley has a Bean Valley Conference Tournament that is dedicated and played in honor of Duane and his father Bud. Duane left a legacy and big shoes to fill. 5 children, Donnie and Candy of Estancia, Ronnie and Vickie of Estancia, Cathy of Estancia, Troy and Angie of Estancia and Mike and Janet of Edgewood, 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Duane's kindness and hard work endeared him to all that knew him, and his presence in the community will be deeply missed. Duane’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
