Debra Kay Bennett, passed away peacefully in her home in McIntosh, N.M. surrounded byfamily and friends on November 5, 2018. Born August 24, 1953, to Curtis and Clovis Haskins inHenderson TX.Debra spent her early years between Texas and Maljamar N.M., where herdaddy worked in the oil fields. Debra Kay was a graduate of Roswell High in Roswell N.M.,which is where she later met her soulmate, Bill Bennett, when the carnival came to town.Married May 13, 1972, Bill and Debra started not only a beautiful life together, but built asuccessful business in Bennett’s Amusement, Inc. She cultivated lifelong relationships andmade irreplaceable memories with everyone she met along their travels across the country.Debra was the unequivocal matriarch of the family. Her favorite things were her family, singing,shopping, watching reality tv and food shows, and taking cruises with Bill and friends.She fought a courageous battle against Ovarian Cancer, giving it her all until her lastmoments with her larger than life personality. She overcame countless obstacles andcomplications, many of which had timelines that she far surpassed. She was determined toattend her grandchildren’s many activities; sporting events, recitals, and karate tournamentseven during her battles and sicknesses. Her love for her family kept the fire in her fighting spirit,a flame that burns on in the hearts of those closest to her.She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncle. She is survivedby her beloved husband of 46 years, Bill Bennett, her children, Chandra ( Fred ) Martin andCurtis a.k.a. CW (Shalane) Bennett and her seven wonderful grandchildren; Bailey, Hope,Jordan. Austin, Ashlee, Owen,and Ezra all of Mcintosh N.M. Although they never used the termstep, step mom, Lauranne McDaniel, step brother, Jamey Smith, and nieces Erika, Jessika andMarlee of Artesia N.M. and step aunt , Maureen Lemke of San Marcos Texas. Bill (Mary)Baldree, Mike (Pam) Baldree and several other cousins in Texas.For anyone who knew her, you know she did things her way from birth to her passing. Debrawas someone who never met a stranger, relished in great conversation, and always lived life onher terms. There will never be another one like her. Rest in peace momma. We will keep you inour hearts forever.Her celebration of life will be held on December 1, 2018 at 10 am at 202 Broadway MoriartyN.M. at the Moriarty Civic Center. Officiated by Pastor Mike Nasci.
