David Edwin Oakes

David Edwin Oakes David Edwin Oakes, 85, passed away on May 5, 2024 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born December 10, 1938 in Meadville, PA to the late Gordon and Faye Oakes. David served in the army in Korea and had a variety of careers which included being a barber, a police officer, working in agriculture and eventually retired as a truck driver. He enjoyed being with family and friends and had a great love for animals. David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lenore Oakes and his brother, James Carlton Oakes. He is survived by daughters, Diane Finch of Mountain Grove, MO and Jane Martin and husband Ray of Portales, NM; sons, David Wilbur Oakes and wife Jean of Tulsa, OK and Douglas Keith Oakes and wife Beth of San Antonio, TX; brother, Gerald Oakes of French Town, PA. David was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. A viewing will be held Wednesday May 15, 2024 at the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Graveside Funeral service and burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery Thursday May 16, 2024 at 9:000 AM.
