Charles Lurton Hughes, 86, passed away on July 18, 2019 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born on March 29, 1933 in Winamac, Indiana to the late Rush and Gertrude (Griffith) Hughes. Charles was a longtime resident of New Mexico. He was a member of the Elks Club, NM Educator Association and was the Choir Director for many years in various churches. Charles had a Master’s Degree in Education Administration. Was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church in Corona and was a retired Principal and Teacher. Charles will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is also preceded in death by his son in law, Martin Encinias. Charles is survived by his wife, Sue Hughes of Corona, NM; son, Mike Hughes and wife Lisa of Estancia, NM; daughter, Lisa Encinias of Estancia, NM and sister, Susie Easterling and husband Rob of Cedar Crest, NM. Charles was blessed with 6 grandchildren, Kendra Otis, Michael Hughes, Kyle Encinias, Leah Jo Acosta, Chris Hughes and Charlie Encinias and 10 great grandchildren, Payton Otis, Lyndi Otis, Lucas Acosta, Russell Acosta,Andy Otis, Esteban Acosta, Ethan Hughes, Bohdi Hughes, Roe Encinias and Hardy Encinias. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the Corona High School Auditorium.
