Byrle Newton Lewis

March 2, 1956 — September 14, 2020

Byrle Newton Lewis, 64, of Edgewood, New Mexico Beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, and friend to many. Born March 2, 1956 to Bertis and Edith (Beasley) was taken too soon on September 14, 2020 surrounded by his loved ones. Byrle was born in Albuquerque, NM but spent much of his youth in Pagosa Springs, CO where he lost his mother at a young age. He spoke of her often and remembered her fondly. He spent much of his childhood working on both his grandfathers, and fathers ranches where he learned many lessons he would share with his loved ones. He greatly enjoyed working with the horses his family owned, loved riding his motorcycle, snowmobiles, and learning survival skills in the outdoors. He graduated from Pagosa Springs High School, where he made many friends that he kept in touch with throughout his life. As a young adult he worked as a welder in the Uranium Mines of Grants, NM. A job he worked until the mines were eventually shut down. Shortly after he met his first wife, Sharon Sweetman, and lived with her in Pagosa Springs, CO. Sharon and Byrle had two children, Diamond Lewis and Breanna Lewis, who were loved dearly. Tragically Sharon was taken from this world in a devastating accident leaving Byrle widowed. After the tragedy of losing Sharon, he moved back Albuquerque, NM where he worked as a concrete truck driver for several companies including C&C, Western Mobile, and Lafarge. While living in Albuquerque he met his second wife, Denise Schlather, where he had his third child, Jeremy Lewis. After living in Albuquerque for some time Byrle, Denise, and Jeremy moved to Edgewood, NM. Eventually Byrle and Denise were divorced. Byrle then met his longtime wife and soulmate, Marla Lewis. Byrle and Marla shared 21 great years together where they traveled frequently and spent many days riding ATV's in the hills near their home. During this time Byrle had his fourth child, Destiny Lewis. Byrle enjoyed many days homeschooling Destiny and teaching her the fundamentals of life. Byrle was a great man, who loved the outdoors, saw beauty in everything, and was one who frequently stopped to "smell the roses." He enjoyed technology, was the master of memes, and always had a cool gadget to share with those he loved. He expressed himself in many ways and was frequently found in his shop making stone artwork. It’s also worth noting Byrles beard would have made Odin himself jealous. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Marla Lewis; brother Randy Lewis; daughters, Diamond Martinez, Breanna Uller, Destiny Lewis and son, Jeremy Lewis as well as countless friends he made throughout the years. His Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the Harris Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty, New Mexico at 10:00 A.M. Pastor Jason Boggan will officiate. A reception will immediately follow at the Venus Park (Soccer Fields) located at 181 NM-344, Edgewood, NM 87015. We ask that those who will attend to please bring good memories to share with us as well as a food dish or drink to share in potluck style.
