Bobby Gene Neeley

Bobby Gene Neeley, 86 went to be with the Lord peacefully Friday, March 3, 2023, at home with his beloved family by his side. Bobby was born May 29, 1936, in Clovis, NM, the son of the late Doc and Johnnie Belle (Griggs) Neeley of Mountainair. Bobby was a 1954 graduate of Mountainair High School. He graduated in 1975 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth, Texas, with his Bachelor’s in Theology. He also served in the U.S. Navy, active duty, on the USS Brinkley from 1957 to 1961 as a Machinist’s Mate Second Class Petty Officer. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserves from 1962-1968. Although Bobby worked hard as a farmer, he dedicated his life’s career to preaching God’s Word. He shepherded multiple congregations throughout his career, built a church in Estancia, founded a ministry witnessing at truck stops, and never stopped selflessly serving his community. He loved studying the Bible and talking to and jamming with family and friends. He authored and illustrated countless devotionals, some published, up until his final days. He was an incredibly talented artist, guitarist, fiddler poet, and writer. A cowboy devoted to serving the Lord. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marsha Lee (Hunter), brother, Johnny Ray, and three sisters, Geneva La June, Barbara and Dorothy. He is survived by and will be remembered by his two daughters, Jeanine and Marla; oldest sister, Bettye Lou; as well as six grandchildren. Gran Quivira Church will hold the viewing at 10am with funeral services following at 11am on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. Graveside services will take place at Roundtop Cemetery immediately following the reception. Pallbearers are Eugene Ness, Brady Ness, Steven Ness, Wayne Connell, Matthew Connell and Curtis Moreland, and in memorium, Honorary Pallbearer, Gary Watts. He will be remembered fondly by many for, “Ridin’ fer the Big Brand, Reppin’ fer the JC.” *In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Bobby’s name to one of the following: Senior Center of Estancia, P.O.
