Bennie Doris Simmons

Bennie Doris Newton Simmons 88 of Tonto Basin, AZ went home to be with the Lord on April 11th 2023. She is survived by daughters Debbie Allen, Kathy Johns, and sister Jan Clark, 5 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 3 great GREAT grandchildren. Doris was born in Pilot Point TX in 1934, and grew up in Lubbock, TX. While attending church as a youth she met Bill to whom she married in 1950, at the age of 16. They were married for 70 years until he meet his heavenly father in 2021. She was preceded in death by father Bennie Newton, mother Sallye Fletcher, stepfather Ralph Fletcher, and brother Willard Newton. After marrying Bill they moved to San Diego CA, 3 months later he was shipped to Korea. After his return from Korea, they moved to Norfolk VA. After Bills military career was completed, they moved to Springfield MO where they attended Baptist Bible collage together then moving to Tulsa OK. She served with her husband in 5 churches from OK, CA, WA, NM and Bible collages in California and Virginia. She worked along side her husband for over 50 years of service to the Lord. Retiring to Edgewood NM, she attended Bella Vista Baptist Church then moved to Albuquerque NM. Over decades of Godly service, she has made many great and long-lasting friendships. For the past two years as lived in Tonto Basin AZ with daughter Kathy Johns. She was a devoted Godly Wife, mother, and friend. Viewing to be held Monday May 15, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Harris Hanlon Mortuary 807 Central Ave. Moriarty NM 87035. Services will be held Tuesday May 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Bella Vista Baptist Church 2800 Louisiana Blvd NE Albuquerque NM 87110 with burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe New Mexico.
