Barbara Zinn Hines

On July 2, 2020, Barbara Zinn Hines passed away peacefully at age 82 after an illness. Born in Rural Richie, West Virginia, Barbara's family moved to Hammond, Indiana where she met her first husband. They married and moved to Texas where he was stationed at Perrin Air Force Base. They had their first daughter and later settled in Canyon TX, where their second daughter was born. In the mid-1980’s, Barbara remarried a wonderful man, Steve Hines, whom she would stay married to for the remainder of her life. In 1992, they moved to the East Mountains outside of Albuquerque NM. The two loved traveling to visit family and particularly enjoyed taking cruises, then scrapbooking about their adventures. Barbara was a lover of animals and spent a lifetime rescuing animals of all types. She enjoyed sewing, crochet, making gifts for her loved ones, photography, and playing music. Barbara is survived by her husband Steve Hines, sister Melodie and husband James Mascarenas, brother Jim and wife Gena Zinn, daughters Vickie Ebenkamp, Amanda and husband Dominique Hardie, stepdaughters Mira O’Connell, Amanda Hines and stepson Brett Hines. She is survived by niece Jennifer and husband Matt De Waelsche. Barbara also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.A viewing will be held on Friday, July 10, 2020 from 10:30 A.M to 12:30 P.M. at the Harris Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty, New Mexico. A closed church service will be held at Holy Cross Episcopal Church of Edgewood on Friday, July 10, 2020, from 2pm to 3pm. It will be broadcast via zoom for remote attendees. A burial service will be held Saturday, July 11, 2020, from 11am to 12pm at Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon TX. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org.
